This cake was made for a local firefighter for his 29th birthday. A few months ago, the Cambria, NY fire department that he works for burned down and "his" engine # 4-E-2 was lost in the fire. This engine was very special to him, so his wife wanted a cake of "his" engine. The entire cake is white with buttercream frosting, lot's of fondant pieces, as well as chocolate covered mini donuts for the wheels. I really love the way this cake turned out. The main focus is supposed to be on the engine, but I must admit that I love the way the fire hydrant with the hose (strategically placed in the number 29... because he is turning 29... clever huh?), and the water made from royal icing turned out. Happy birthday Chris!
Melissa,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for doing such a wonderful job on Chris' cake!!! He loved it so much he did not want to cut it!!! You made his birthday so special. We will always remember the fire we had at our volunteer hall, and the truck that we lost, "his baby." You really did a great job replicating the truck!!
Thank you again!!!
Kristen
