Christine's 30th Birthday "Prom" cake!

This was made for my friend Christine who was turning the big 3-0, and decided that she wanted to have a "Prom" theme where everyone dressed up... well, like they were going to the Prom. Her favorite color is pink, so the decision to make a pink cake was obvious. The top and middle layer was funfetti (her favorite) and the bottom layer was chocolate. Since she is not a huge fan of fondant, the entire cake was buttercream with fondant pieces. The big 30 was fondant with non edible rhinestones and the big bow on top (which was one of my favorite parts) was all fondant. Alot of people actually thought it was material... very realistic! Happy 30th Christine!

Flower Power!

This birthday cake was made for the same girl that I made the brightly colored spring like cupcakes for last week. It is a white cake with oreo filling, vanilla buttercream frosting and molded fondant flowers. Happy birthday Alannah!

Treasure Map

This was made for a little boy who was turning 6 and was having a pirate themed birthday. This cake is 2 half sheet cakes stacked, one yellow and one chocolate all with vanilla buttercream frosting. I really love the way that this turned out! My husband even said that this is his favorite cake so far... I think I may have to agree on that! Happy Birthday Captain Jacob!

Springlike cupcakes!

These were made for the same girl that I made the Mickey Mouse cake for. Just this time, it was for her daughter Alannah's 6th birthday. I was told that she loved to draw and whenever she drew, she would always draw flowers, rainbows, the sun, etc... So this is what I came up with! I really love how bright and colorful these are. These are actually muffin sized cupcakes all with white cake and vanilla buttercream. Happy Birthday Alannah!

ipod

This cake was made for a friend of mine's co-worker. It was both her daughter Allyson and her Niece Sarah's birthday. I really LOVE the way this cake turned out. I did another ipod cake a few months back, but this time I decided that I would add some headphones, which I think add just the right finishing touch! Happy Birthday Allyson and Sarah!

"Anything Goes"

This cake was made for the Clarence High School Drama Club who was putting on the 1934 musical "Anything Goes" by Cole Porter. This cake was absolutely HUGE! Four half sheet cakes were made, placed side-by-side and stacked... one side is chocolate and the other side is vanilla all with buttercream frosting. Break a leg!

Cherry blossoms

This cake was made for a friend to give to one of her friends. There really weren't any restrictions as to what I could do... she gave me free range to do whatever I wanted, which was really nice. Since I just bought this fantastic electric green color, I decided to try it out, and I must say that I LOVE IT! I think it has become my new favorite cake decorating color... it is just so bright and fun. I often look at other websites and blogs for inspiration, and by doing that, I came across a cake very similar to this. I really love the way this cake turned out, and have a feeling that I will be doing more like this in the future! Happy Birthday Susan!

Spring has sprung!

This cake was made on the fly to take to a friends house for a little get together. The cake is lemon with a lemon buttercream frosting... my second favorite flavor aside from chocolate. After the frosting was made and colored, I literally had 15 minutes to decide what I wanted to do and decorate it. Spring has not officially sprung yet, but who said a person can't do some wishful thinking?
