A day at the beach!

This cake was made for the same friends that I made the sports themed cake for last week. The sports cake was for their son Keean's actual birthday, but this cake was for his birthday party. The party actually celebrated 5 different family member's birthdays. Again she gave me free range to what ever I wanted, so I chose to do a beach theme because it would suit both boys and girls, and then later found out she was sending out beach themed invitations... I guess we were on the same page! :) The top cake was white with strawberry buttercream filling and the bottom cake was chocolate with vanilla buttercream/chocolate chip filling. The sand castle was cake covered in buttercream and crushed graham crackers to resemble sand, and all decorations were fondant.
Happy 3rd birthday Keean!
Happy 7th birthday Nilan!
Happy 9th birthday Divya!
Happy 16th birthday Ben!
Happy birthday Archana!

Captain Max's treasure map!

This cake was made for a little boy who was turning 3 and was having a pirate themed birthday. It is almost identical to one that I made a few months back with just a few minor changes. Double layer sheet cake, one white and one chocolate all with vanilla buttercream frosting. Happy Birthday Captain Maxwell!

Jeremy's Torii Gate cake

This cake was made for a friend, who loves Japan and it's culture, I was told by his wife that he also loves torii gates. A Torii is a traditional Japanese gate commonly found at the entry to a Shinto shrine, although it can be found at Buddhist temples as well. Torii mark the transition from the sacred (the shrine) to the profane (the normal world). Torii's many times stand in the middle of water, so I decided to do just that. The torii is constructed of fondant and is standing in a small pool of blue jello to resemble water. The cake was chocolate chip with vanilla buttercream/chocolate chip filling. Happy birthday Jeremy!

Bailey's flip flops

I have been wanting to make a flip flop cake for some time now, so I was so excited when I finally got a call to make one for a young girl who was turning 12. Both flip flops were white cake with vanilla buttercream/chocolate chip filling with homemade marshmallow fondant straps, flowers, polkadots, and towel. If you look closely, I even made the flip flops size 12... because she was turning 12. Finishing touches include crushed graham crackers for the sand and white chocolate sea shells. Happy Birthday Bailey!

Saniya's Princess Castle

This cake was made for some friends of ours daughter Saniya who was turning 4. A few months back, I made a castle for my daughter's 3rd birthday which was the same size and shape, but had different fondant designs... I actually like the way this one turned out more. The top cake was vanilla with chocolate chip filling and the bottom was vanilla with strawberry filling. All decorations were made from homemade marshmallow fondant, and ice cream cones were used on top of the pillars. Happy Birthday Princess Saniya!

The writing on the banner looks like it was written with a sharpie, but it is actually edible marker.

This area (the door and the windows) was my favorite part!

Maddie's 1st Birthday!

This cake was made for some good friends of ours daughter Maddie who was turning 1. They had the "hugs and stitches" 1st birthday theme, so I based this cake off of that. I really love the way this cake turned out... I think it may be one of my favorites yet... I especially love the colors. The top cake was lemon with lemon buttercream filling and frosting, the bottom cake was vanilla with strawberry filling, and all decorations were made from homemade marshmallow fondant. Happy 1st Birthday Maddie!

Smash cupcake for the birthday girl!

Keean's sports cake

This cake was made for some close friends of ours son Keean's 3rd birthday, who just so happens to be both of my daughters boyfriend.. they actually fight over him (so funny). Anyway, they are having a big birthday at the end of the month for family and friends, but this cake was just for close family. I was told that I could do absolutely what ever I wanted for this cake... I could even choose the theme which was awesome, so I thought a generic sports theme would be perfect for a little boy! The cake was chocolate with a vanilla buttercream/chocolate chip filling, and homemade marshmallow fondant pieces were used for the decorations. Happy 3rd birthday Keean!

Margarita

I made this giant margarita cake for my sister-in-law Katie's 30th birthday. I saw one of these online months ago, but haven't had any real reason to make one until now. The cake was white with a chocolate chip buttercream filling, vanilla buttercream frosting and garnished with some sugar crystals to look like salt and a candy lime. I absolutely LOVE the way this turned out, and was so much fun to make! Happy 30th Katie!!

Barb's 60th Birthday

This cake was made for a surprise 60th birthday. The cake was a tad bit topsy turvy, with homemade funfetti and pineapple guava frosting. Happy 60th Birthday Barb!

Cupcake Kabobs

I made these for a 4th of July themed girls night that we have about once a month. The cupcakes were vanilla with a cream cheese frosting, and strawberries and marshmallows that were dipped in sugar sprinkles were used to complete the kabobs. I wish I can take creative credit for these, but I can't. I don't know who originally came up with the idea, but I keep seeing these pop up in the internet cupcake world. Happy 4th!
