He wanted a construction crane cake so I suggested making a crane and make it look like it was building a cake made from Lego's. I was told he loves Lego's so that is what I did. The cake was chocolate with vanilla buttercream/chocolate chip filling and the crane was made from Rice Krispy Treats. Everything was edible with the exception of the ladder and the tower like thingy (sorry but I don't know what to call it) which were made from wood skewers and painted with black food gel and the strings. The wedding was in Jacksonville a couple of hours away, so everything was picked up by a friend of the couple and the wedding coordinator was going to place everything on the cupcake tower at the reception. I will post some pics of everything once I receive them. There were 216 cupcakes total consisting of four different flavors... chocolate chip with chocolate fudge frosting, chocolate with chocolate fudge frosting, orange with vanilla buttercream, and strawberry with a baked in strawberry with vanilla buttercream. The small cake which the bride and groom cut into was also strawberry. I was very excited to make this cake but this to me was a bit of an odd request for kids turning 3 and 5 because the cartoon is so old school (I grew up watching Tom and Jerry) and now-a-days there are 50 million other cartoons on TV, so I totally expected something like Sponge Bob or something along those lines. I was given total creative freedom on this cake which was awesome, but the only thing I had to do was make Tom girly, so I added pink flower earrings. The bottom cake was chocolate with chocolate fudge filling and covered in purple fondant with polka dots for Anika and the top cake was white with raspberry filling and covered in green fondant with stars for Devan. Tom and Jerry and the wood mallet were sculpted from Rice cereal treats and covered in fondant. I really love the way this cake turned out and so did everyone else including the birthday boy and girl and their parents which was most important. The bottom tier was white cake with raspberry filling and the top tier was chocolate cake with chocolate fudge filling. The towers were made from rice cereal treats and then covered in fondant and topped with ice cream cones rolled in pink white chocolate and then sprinkled with edible glitter. The entire cake was covered in fondant and the birthday girls' mom bought some Disney Princess figurines to finish off the cake. She loves to dance and she loves the color pink, so she wanted a pink ballerina cake, which I might add is totally opposite from her Land Before Time Dinosaur cake that she HAD to have last year that took me about 12 hours just to sculpt the characters. lol. The bottom tier was vanilla and chocolate cake with chocolate filling, the middle tier was vanilla cake with raspberry filling and the top tier was chocolate cake with chocolate filling. The ballerina was sculpted from fondant. She wanted a giant Nemo so that is exactly what she got. Nemo was sculpted from Rice Cereal treats and then covered in fondat. The cake was yellow with Nutella filling and all coral and sea grass were made from fondant. The colors that she wanted to focus on were burgandy and silver and she wanted something rich and elegant looking with the edible silver dragee's incorporated but really wanted to stay away from flowers. I think that I managed to pull it off. The top tier was red velvet, the bottom tier was orange, and the entire cake was covered in ivory fondant. The burgandy borders and the bows were fondant and the broaches in the center of the bows were handmade from fondant and dragee's. Because some people attending the shower were vegan, she also wanted some orange vegan cupcakes made. When I dropped it off, everyone loved it including the bride to be! Being a typical kid and after changing her mind as to what theme she wanted like a million and one times... first Tinker Bell, then Ni Hao Kai Lan, then back to Tinker Bell, then once again back to Ni Hao Kai Lan, then Dora (even though she had Dora last year), then butterfly, then Lady Bug, she finally decided on a Lady Bug theme. She told me specifically that she did not want red lady bugs... she originally wanted purple lady bugs because that is her favorite color, but I was able to convince her that pink would look better. :) </div><div>The bottom tier was orange cake with vanilla buttercream filling, and the top tier was white cake with vanilla buttercream/mini chocolate chip filling. The entire cake was covered in fondant including the cake board, and all "decorations"... the lady bugs, 3, and the flowers were sculpted from fondant. I have never personally watched the show, so I really didn't know anything about it, other then the fact that I was told there was one episode that he (and I really have no clue who "he" was other then the fact that it was the main character) turned into a puppet. The cake was chocolate with vanilla buttercream filling and frosting. The puppet was sculpted from homemade marshmallow fondant and royal icing was used to make it look like blood was dripping down the sides of the cake. They specifically asked for a pink bear sitting on top of a blanket that looked like the babies bedding... Sugar Plum Fairy from Babies-R-Us, and blocks spelling out the babies name. The bottom cake and the bear were confetti with strawberry buttercream filling and vanilla frosting. The blanket was made entirely from homemade marshmallow fondant, and the blocks sitting on top of the cake were made from Rice Krispy Treats dipped in white chocolate and then covered in fondant. 30 extra blocks with A,B,C's were also made to go along with the cake. It is pretty funny because last year she went from liking Princesses to this year liking Dinosaurs... totally different end of the spectrum. :) The cake was half chocolate with chocolate buttercream/chocolate chip filling, the other half was white cake with passion fruit buttercream filling, and the volcano was chocolate cake. All figures were made from fondant, and might I add that they took FOREVER!! She loves the color pink and wanted it incorporated into the cake in some way, so I made the dinosaurs some party cats and a present. There were 3 boys turning 1, one turning 4, and another turning 5. I also made simple cupcakes with just blue frosting and white sprinkles for all the guests. All cupcakes were chocolate with vanilla buttercream frosting, and sea animals and numbers were all made from homamade marshmallow fondant. The cake was white with strawberry buttercream filling and frosting, and all "decorations"... the wrapper, stars, swirly like confetti, bow, her name on the board, and the 18 on top were made from homemade marshmallow fondant. I wanted to incorporate a little funkiness into the cake so I added a zebra print bow which I hand painted and a black and white marbled 18. I really like the way it turned out, and hopefully the bday girl did as well! This giant cupcake was made for a little girl turning 2. Her mom was on the fence as to what she wanted... either a giant cupcake with bugs (the same one that I made for my friend's daughter Ava), or a Strawberry Shortcake themed cake, so I suggested a Strawberry Shortcake giant cupcake. I was very excited when I first thought up the idea, so i'm glad that she loved the idea as much as I did. The cake was confetti with guava pineapple frosting, and the strawberries, vines, flowers, leaves, wrapper and 2 were all made from fondant. They didn't want to know what they are having, so the cupcakes were made for both boys and girls. They seem to think that it may be a boy only because they had a 4d ultrasound and the face they think looks more like a boy. That is why I placed a boy cupcake on top of the tower. This cake went off without a hitch until a sudden disaster struck... my dog Sasha ate it (scroll down to see the pic of the cake she ate) at 7pm Friday night. Words can't even begin to describe what was going through my mind. Anyway, I jumped right on making another one, and actually finished alot faster than it took for the first one. I guess I was a seasoned pro at making computer cakes by that time. :) The cake was white with chocolate buttercream/chocolate chip filling with vanilla buttercream frosting and then covered entirely in fondant. The screen was made from styrofoam and then covered in fondant as well. A light purple cake with a monkey theme was asked for so this is what I came up with. The cake was white with strawberry buttercream filling and buttercream frosting, and the monkey, bananas, 1, and polka dots were all made from homemae marshmallow fondant.
